Privacy Policy

Overview
CodexTutor (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is operated by K12 Teacher Tools. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the CodexTutor mobile application and related services.
Information we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service:
- Account information: Your name and email address when you sign in with Apple or Google.
- Study progress: Flashcard reviews, vocabulary statistics, grammar drill results, reading progress, and spaced-repetition scheduling data.
- Preferences: Your selected language, active text, and study settings (e.g., daily card limits).
- Subscription status: Whether you have an active Pro subscription (managed by Apple and RevenueCat; we do not receive or store payment details).
- Device information: Basic device identifiers used by RevenueCat for subscription management.
We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, or any data unrelated to your use of the app.
How we use your data
- Power your learning experience: tracking vocabulary, scheduling reviews, syncing progress across devices.
- Manage your subscription and ensure access to the correct features.
- Improve the service through aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate CodexTutor:
- Firebase Authentication (Google) — handles sign-in with Apple and Google. Your credentials are managed by Google's infrastructure and are never stored directly by us.
- Neon (neon.tech) — cloud PostgreSQL database where your study progress is stored. All connections are encrypted via TLS.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives a device identifier and subscription status from Apple. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare R2 — hosts audio pronunciation files. No personal data is sent to Cloudflare.
Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We do not store passwords (authentication is delegated to Firebase) or payment information (handled by Apple and RevenueCat). We implement reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Data retention
We retain your account and study data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete all personally identifiable data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated statistics (e.g., total reviews across all users) may be retained indefinitely.
Children's privacy
CodexTutor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data by contacting us.
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time.
- Export your study data upon request.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of CodexTutor after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
